Mauritius
Discipline · resilience · foundation
Katalumé grew out of a life shaped by different cultures, languages and ways of thinking.
I was born in Mauritius, where I developed a strong sense of discipline, resilience and adaptability. Those early foundations stayed with me and continue to shape how I approach work, responsibility and long-term thinking.
I later grew up in Canada, where English became the language of much of my professional life and where my work in technology, systems and business continued to evolve.
Then Japan changed the way I looked at learning, structure and craft.
I went to Japan to study Japanese and spent several years there immersed in the language and culture. What stayed with me most was not only the language itself, but the Japanese way of approaching mastery — with structure, discipline, refinement and intention.
There is an idea in Japanese called kata — a form or pattern learned through practice.
It is not just about knowing something once. It is about repeating, refining and improving until the method becomes part of how you work.
That idea stayed with me throughout my career.

Structure · mastery · intention
Over time, my path led deeply into technology — from the early web to databases, applications, websites, platforms and increasingly complex digital systems.
But the longer I worked in technology, the more I realised that the real value was never just in building.
It was in understanding what people were trying to accomplish, how organisations worked, where information flowed, where things became unnecessarily complicated, and what technology should — or should not — be introduced.
Diagnose before you automate.
Structure · practice · mastery
Inspired by the Japanese idea of form, disciplined practice and refinement.Light · clarity · understanding
Evoking the French lumière — a sense of light, clarity and illumination.Together, they express how Katalumé approaches technology: bring clarity to complexity, give it structure, and build what matters.
Understand the technology, the organisation, the people and the opportunity.
Give the problem structure and design the right approach before choosing tools.
Turn that architecture into practical platforms, intelligent systems and real-world capability.
Not technology for technology’s sake.
